Just found this. Haven't seen the team in years and years. I was guidon bearer for the 1969 Nat'l Champion team and soph advisor (we didn't use the word "hound" in those days) for the 1970 Nat'l Champion team. My brother 69, was guidon for the 1965 team whose record got us invited to DC for the first time. He was soph advisor for the 1st team to go there, they won 2nd place. As far as I know, we are the only brothers to have both been both guidon and advisors. We used a completely different style of drill then, fast; it set us apart. When did the team switch to the slower style?
Sure wish I could find an old film of our team. Any ole Ag out there got one in the attic of the 69 team? I'd pay to have it converted to DVD.

Last week, I was in Arlington to see the Aggies beat Arkansas (but got outscored) and seeing the Corps brought back memories of the Fish Drill Team and close order drill.

Interested in membership. Was a Drill Team member 1958-59. Ben Rice was our commander.

FDT '67: Last team to drill with M1's (?)... Definitely first & last team to drill with bayonets--it was often not pretty.

The Glory Days! Glad I found the site.
We were practicing a Queen Anne Box and were a freshman short so our hound stepped into a centerline position to fill in. One of the two guys throwing over his head wigged out because he was afraid of getting the throw too close to the hound. Instead he threw the shoulder throw almost straight up and it came down on the hound's head perfectly vertical. When it hit his head (he only had his soft cover on) it sounded like someone had thumped a melon. Every last one of us puckered up and waited for the fallout. The hound looked at my buddy, said in a quiet voice "was that your weapon?" and walked away (presumably to pass out).
After about 10 seconds, our hearts started beating again.

Like others who have posted here, I just found this site.
I recently read the articles in the latest "Guidon" about FDT, and it got me thinking.
I was the guidon bearer for the Class of 1990 in 1986-87 -- big HOWDY to Andy Carr -- do you remember that I brought a functional Springfield 1903A3 onto campus as my class' senior gift? We got in trouble with the Trigon for spending so much money.
I guess my point is that I have SO many memories, and also some memorabilia I'd love to donate, if there is a place for it. If nothing else, it's great to connect with ya'll.
